Background

This course provides basic knowledge of fire prevention and is the most comprehensive, and cost effective. This course will be of particular benefit for all staff, particularly those with a designated fire responsibility.

Brief outline of the course:

This course will provide participants with a greater awareness and understanding of the threat posed by a fire. It includes what their personal responsibility in preventing an outbreak is and the action to be taken should a fire occur.

• Fire facts and figures

• Combustion principles

• Hazard spotting

• Fire and the law

• Evacuation principles

• Fire Officers' and Fire Wardens' responsibilities

• Fire extinguishment  - theory and practical

• The selection, operation and actuation of first aid, portable fire extinguishers

All candidates will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course along with a handout for future reference.
