Breathing Apparatus Training
Duration: 2 to 5 days
Location: Fire training complex
Background
Employees from all levels who may be called upon to work in irrespirable atmospheres alongside Local Authority Firefighters at emergency incidents in a specialist capacity.
Brief outline of the course:
To understand the theory of respiration and the effects of toxic atmospheres on the body and respiratory system. To carry out routine servicing of breathing apparatus and its ancillary equipment. The donning of protective clothing and breathing apparatus in an emergency situation. To carry out basic breathing apparatus safety monitoring procedures. To be able to use various methods of self protection and search and rescue, when moving in smoke and darkness. To react and use basic emergency procedures. Experience real fire situations in a purpose built fire training complex.

Wearing of protective clothing (where appropriate)
Discussion takes place to determine each clients requirements in order that the content may be varied to provide maximum benefit.
All candidates will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course along with a handout for future reference.
